Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking an RN for the CCU in Roanoke, VA. This full-time night-shift role focuses on critically ill adults in a 12-bed unit, requiring accurate assessments, care planning, and bedside support across all age groups.

The RN will collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate care, ensure safe outcomes, and participate in ongoing performance improvement. Virginia licensure and BLS-HCP are required, with ACLS/PALS/NRP possible depending on unit.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
  • Current Virginia Registered Nurse license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required. ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required depending on assigned area.
  • Keyboarding skills and computer literacy; ability to use electronic medical records.
  • Behavioral Health roles may require ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
  • Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
  • Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
  • Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
  • Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic care environments.

  • Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare: RN opportunity on CCU, 9 CST ICU, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Primarily evening/night shift with weekend rotation. Relocation allowance available.

CCU consists of 12 beds serving patients 18 years and older. Our critical care nurses practice in a setting where patients require complex ongoing assessment, multiple therapies and interventions. The unit comprised mostly of patients with illness/injury resulting from acute myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, life threatening arrhythmias and cardiac arrest.

The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.

What We Require

Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.

Experience: None.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.

Compensation Range

$33.52 - $50.28

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
