Location: Rockford, Illinois
Schedule: Full-Time | 8-Hour Day Shift | Managerial Role with 24/7 Department Availability
Pay Range: $46.05–$61.02 per hour
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 with a two-year commitment

Job Overview

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced RN - Cath Lab Manager to lead a fast-paced and growing procedural services department in Rockford, Illinois.

This leadership role oversees Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology, Neuro Interventional Radiology, Interventional Radiology, and related pre- and post-procedure services. The Manager will work closely with physicians and clinical leadership to strengthen operations, develop staff, improve workflows, and support continued service-line growth.

The ideal candidate is a highly visible and adaptable nursing leader with previous Cath Lab, Neuro IR, or Interventional Radiology experience and at least two years of supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily clinical and operational activities across Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology services
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop nursing and procedural staff
  • Partner with physicians and department leadership to expand cardiovascular and interventional services
  • Build an accountable, collaborative, and patient-focused department culture
  • Manage staffing and scheduling to support around-the-clock procedural and emergency coverage
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on patient volume, acuity, and procedural demand
  • Monitor department productivity, quality, financial performance, and operational metrics
  • Identify workflow challenges and implement process improvements
  • Support safe, efficient patient flow through pre-procedure, procedural, and recovery areas
  • Promote patient safety, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, interventional radiologists, neuro-interventional physicians, and other clinical leaders
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, retention, competency development, and employee performance management
  • Promote staff engagement and professional growth through coaching and mentorship
  • Support quality-improvement and patient-outcome initiatives
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, equipment, and staffing productivity
  • Review current processes and challenge inefficient or outdated workflows
  • Support implementation of new technologies, procedures, and clinical best practices
  • Maintain readiness for accreditation and regulatory reviews
  • Respond to significant staffing, operational, or clinical concerns outside regular business hours when leadership support is required
  • Collaborate with executive and service-line leadership on strategic departmental goals
  • Perform other leadership responsibilities as assigned
Department Information

The procedural department includes 5 suites and supports a diverse range of cardiovascular, electrophysiology, neuro-interventional, and interventional radiology cases.

Average daily procedural volume includes approximately:

  • 5 coronary cases
  • 3 neuro-interventional cases
  • 3 electrophysiology cases
  • 16 interventional radiology cases

Common procedures and patient populations include:

  • STEMI
  • Percutaneous coronary intervention
  • Diagnostic coronary angiography
  • Structural heart procedures
  • Electrophysiology studies
  • Cardiac ablations
  • Pacemaker and device implants
  • Synchronized cardioversion
  • Transesophageal echocardiography
  • Acute stroke and thrombectomy procedures
  • Peripheral vascular interventions
  • Biopsies
  • Drain placements
  • Pre- and post-procedural recovery
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse license or ability to obtain Illinois RN licensure
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory, manager, or higher-level nursing leadership experience
  • Previous clinical or leadership experience in:
    • Cardiac Cath Lab
    • Neuro Interventional Radiology
    • Interventional Radiology
    • Closely related procedural services
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale certification
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular and procedural patient care
  • Experience managing clinical staff and complex staffing needs
  • Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to make difficult operational and personnel decisions while maintaining professionalism and accountability
  • Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing, high-volume procedural environment
  • Willingness to provide leadership availability outside normal business hours when department needs require it
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Previous Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology management experience
  • Neuro IR leadership experience
  • Experience leading large procedural-services teams
  • Demonstrated success improving departmental culture and staff engagement
  • Experience with service-line growth and procedural-volume expansion
  • Experience managing department budgets, staffing productivity, and financial performance
  • Experience implementing quality and process-improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular and interventional accreditation and regulatory requirements
  • Experience introducing new procedures, technologies, or clinical programs
