MemorialCare Health System in Fountain Valley, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cath Lab in Invasive Cardiology to provide patient care, lead nursing processes, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity cardiovascular environment.

The Cardiovascular Lab RN will assess patients, implement treatment plans, educate families, and document care while collaborating with physicians and staff to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Two years Critical Care or ED Nursing experience.
  • Two years Cardiovascular Laboratory experience preferred.
  • Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process and practice standards as a framework for the management of patient care.
  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine a nursing diagnosis and appropriate interventions.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the coordination of patient care across the healthcare continuum with progress towards meeting desired patient outcomes.
  • Delegates to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
  • Demonstrates the ability to utilize effective critical thinking skills.
  • Prioritizes essential functions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation.
  • Contributes to an effective and safe working environment.
  • Formulates a teaching plan, based on identified patient learning needs, and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching plan as necessary.
  • Serves as a role model and mentors new staff members.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient -family-significant other expectations.

Shift: Days (0700-1730)

Pay Range*: $51.99 to $81.50

Bonus: $10,000 (signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements)

Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center. The employee shall support Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

Utilizing the nursing process and clinical nursing practice standards, the Cardiovascular Lab RN is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for the Cardiovascular Laboratory patient in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department. Responsibilities include directing unlicensed employee activity, synthesizing patient information, assessment of patients, planning of care/interventions, teaching patients/family, implementation of treatment plan/MD orders, and evaluation of care rendered. The Cardiovascular Lab RN must effectively communicate and document data relevant to the care of the patient. The Cardiovascular Lab RN utilizes knowledge of patient age, cultural diversity, psychosocial and/or spiritual needs into the patient’s plan of care. The Cardiovascular Lab RN contributes to the promotion of quality nursing care through performance improvement processes that demonstrates positive outcomes in patient care. In addition, the Cardiovascular Lab RN collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications/Work Experience
  • Two years Critical Care or ED Nursing experience.
  • Two years Cardiovascular Laboratory experience preferred. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for an employee with strong education and associated experiential background.
  • Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification
  • Current California RN license
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher preferred
  • Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers card
  • Current ACLS card
  • Specialty certification preferred
