Job summary

AdventHealth in Davenport, FL is seeking a Registered Nurse for contract-based, PRN shifts. The role involves inpatient care, patient education, and collaboration with physicians to deliver high-quality nursing.

You will participate in comprehensive patient care from admission to discharge within a supportive team environment. Ideal candidates have an RN license, BLS/ACLS, and at least 2 years of cath lab nursing experience in acute care settings.

Qualifications

• Must have a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient care and revise plans.
• Basic computer skills to navigate Windows-based programs.
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Provide education to patients and families from admission to discharge.
• Document education and refer to healthcare providers as needed.
• Deliver competent, compassionate nursing care and maintain a safe environment.
• Administer medications as ordered and respond to code situations.
• Support patients requiring oxygen; assist physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manage admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Verify and sign physician orders and collect lab specimens.
• Evaluate the care plan to ensure safe delivery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule: 4x10s, Call Required: After Hours, Weekends, Holidays. 10 - 12 call shifts per 6-week period.

Pay: $67.20/hr

Job Details:

• Provides necessary education to patients and families from admission to discharge, covering medical and nursing care plans, medications, tests, procedures, disease processes, and discharge instructions.
• Documents education provided, including patient responses and outcomes. Initiates referrals to healthcare providers as needed.
• Delivers competent, compassionate care to patients in pain according to policy and maintains a safe care environment.
• Administers medications accurately as ordered. Responds to unit and hospital code situations.
• Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients requiring oxygen support.
• Assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manages patient admissions, transfers, and discharges professionally.
• Verifies and signs off physician orders and obtains lab specimens as ordered.
• Evaluates the nursing care plan to ensure safe, competent care delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes. [Required]
• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows-based programs. [Required]
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills) [Required]

Education:

• Associate [Required]

Work Experience:

• 2 years of cath lab nursing experience in an acute hospital setting. [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Preferred] OR Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC) [Preferred]
