Job summary

Dignity Health - French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, California, seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will perform assessments, administer medications, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support recovery and safety.

This role requires CA RN licensure, BLS CPR, ACLS and PALS within 90 days, with Emergency Department experience preferred.

Qualifications

• CA RN license or license by endorsement.
• BLS CPR certification is required.
• ACLS within 90 days of start date.
• PALS within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assign triage level based on brief history and vital signs and document nursing history and admission.
• Assess age-specific physiological status including mental status, skin signs, pain level and complaints.
• Inform MD of priority cases based on assessment with supporting data.
• Ensure department readiness for emergencies: crash cart checks and daily bedside supply checks.
• Set priorities and provide nursing care aligned to patient needs and age.
• Implement the medical care plan as delegated.

• - Assignment of level of triage as appropriate based on brief history and indicated vital signs. Performs and documents appropriate nursing history and physical admission on an ongoing basis.
• - Performs and documents age specific basic physiological condition of the patient to include; mental status, skin signs, pain level and complaint specific information.
• - Based on assessment appropriately informs M.D. of priority of patients needing exam/treatment. Evidenced by peer/M.D. input.
• - Completes appropriate procedures to insure that department is always prepared for emergency patient care: 1. Crash cart, glucoscan, O2 tank check 2. Daily bedside supply check for 02 & suction.
• - Sets priorities and gives nursing care based on the patient's needs and age appropriateness.
• - Implements the medical care plan as delegated.

Job Requirements

Required

• - Registered Nurse: CA (RN:CA)
• - Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
• - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 Days
• - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 Days

Preferred

• - Previous Emergency Department experience
