Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: one year acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Introduce the patient to the unit and surroundings within one hour of arrival.
• Complete nursing assessment and admission history within eight hours.
• Provide baseline data on activities of daily living.
• Reflect patient physiology and psychosocial needs and expectations.
• Provide information to begin discharge planning.
• Use standards of care to anticipate potential care problems.

• Ensures that the patient is properly introduced to the unit & his/her surroundings within one hour after arrival in unit.
• Completes assessment as reflected in nursing notes & admission history within 8 hours.
• Provides baseline data pertaining to activities of daily living.
• Reflects physiological condition & psychosocial needs of the patient. Reflects perceptions of patient and/or significant others of his/her health problem(s) & his/her expectations of the present hospitalization.
• Provides information needed to begin discharge planning.
• Utilizes standards of care to anticipate potential patient care problems.
