Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by accrediting bodies (ACEN/CCNE)
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted nursing license in a U.S. state or territory
• Possession of licensure or eligibility for licensure prior to appointment as RN
• Foreign education must be evaluated for equivalence as applicable
• Must meet VA qualification standards and physical requirements

Responsibilities

• Assesses postoperative medications and develops a care plan based on assessment
• Provides IV care per center policies
• Performs accuchecks
• Recognizes and responds to emergencies (Code Blue/White/Red/Black)
• Provides patient and family health education aligned with treatment
• Administers medications via BCMA
• Guides para-professional staff and maintains patient safety
• Cares for patients requiring telemetry and monitors cardiac rhythms
