Origin Travel Nurses seeks an experienced RN in the CVOR to support cardiac surgeons during open-heart and vascular cases, ensuring sterile field integrity, patient safety, and coordination with the surgical team from prep to post-op.
You will assist with CABG and valve procedures, monitor vitals, manage specialized cardiac equipment, document in EMR, educate patients and families, and collaborate with anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and tech staff to deliver safe outcomes.
A CVOR RN is a perioperative specialist who assists cardiac surgeons during complex open‑heart and vascular procedures, managing the sterile field, patient safety, and coordination with the surgical team from prep to post‑op.
Assist cardiac surgeons during procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve surgery, heart transplants, aneurysm repair, Maze surgery, pacemaker/ICD insertion, and other advanced cardiac operations.
Maintain sterile field as circulating or scrub nurse, selecting and handling instruments, supplies, and ensuring infection control.
Monitor patient vitals (heart rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) before, during, and after surgery, and respond to changes in patient status.
Coordinate with the surgical team — including anesthesiologist, perfusionist, and surgical techs — to ensure smooth workflow and patient safety.
Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, draping, and surgical exposure as directed.
Manage specialized cardiac equipment such as cardiopulmonary bypass systems, intra‑aortic balloon pumps, and hemodynamic monitors.
Administer surgical medications and manage fluid balance under anesthesia provider direction.
Educate patients/families on pre‑and post‑operative care, safety measures, and recovery expectations.
Document all procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
