Unit Highlights:

The Cardiac Medical Intensive Care Unit is comprised of 40 patient beds and is the largest critical care unit in the AdventHealth system. Located on the 5th Floor of the Ginsburg Tower on the Orlando Campus, our highly skilled staff provide care to some of the most acutely ill patients in Central Florida. We treat patients with advanced heart failure, ventricular assist devices, pre and post heart and lung transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, cardiac arrest, and other critically acute conditions. Our team is trained in over 20 specialty skills and collaborates with critical care physicians, cardiologists, respiratory therapists, and registered dietitians. Daily interdisciplinary rounds coordinate patient care, establish goals, and plan for discharge.

The community you’ll be caring for:

  • Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando
  • Serves as a major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean, and South America
  • Houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and cardiac catheterization labs in the country
  • Provides service to over 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients annually

The role you’ll contribute:

The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) provides and supervises direct and indirect nursing care to specific age groups. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) to meet departmental goals. Complies with AdventHealth Corporate policies and all applicable regulations. Participates in outstanding customer service, maintaining respectful relationships with patients, families, and team members.

  • NURSING PROCESS: Completes assessments based on Practice Guidelines, including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors. Makes appropriate decisions and interventions, and diagnoses based on patient health conditions. (ANA, 2012)
  • NURSING PROCESS: Sets measurable, achievable goals based on assessments, develops and implements individualized care plans, and evaluates and modifies care as needed. Reflects whole person care, addressing mind, body, and spirit. (King, 1995)
  • NURSING KNOWLEDGE: Assesses and interprets diagnostic data, including labs, monitoring data, and interdisciplinary notes, relevant to patient age and condition. Applies knowledge of diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment.
  • PATIENT SAFETY: Ensures adherence to regulatory standards, infection prevention, medication safety policies, and patient teaching opportunities, following the care plan.
  • COMMUNICATION: Promotes excellent patient experiences through compassionate, effective communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team, including thorough handoffs and following the chain of command as needed.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Graduate of a nursing school
  • Valid Florida or multistate RN license
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications as required by the unit
  • EKG certification

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Professional Certification
