Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the 6 East Coronary Intensive Care unit at Royal Oak Hospital. The RN uses the nursing process to provide patient‑centered care, partners with patients and families, and documents education and planning in the health record.

Qualifications include Associate Degree in Nursing, and a Bachelors in Nursing within five years. Michigan RN license, BLS, ACLS within six months, and NCLEX passage.

Qualifications

  • Must have an Associate Degree in Nursing and must obtain a Bachelor’s degree within five years.
  • MI RN license is required for practice in Michigan.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required or must be obtained within specified time.
  • Active NCLEX licensure is required for employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process with patient-family centered care.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients as part of the care team.
  • Educate patients and families and document education and learning appropriately in health records.

About the unit

6 East is a Coronary Intensive Care 20 ICU beds Our patient population consists of Cardiogenic Shock, Acute MI, Pulmonary Embolism, Congestive Heart Failure and Temperature Management Patients post Cardiac Arrest. We have a high interventional population including Mitral Clip, TAVR and Ablation patients. We take critical care patients with IABP, Right and Left Impella, CRRT and Swan Ganz monitoring.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications
  • Associates in Nursing Required
  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
  • Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
  • Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
