About The Unit

8 South Neuro is a 52-bed progressive/medical surgical, comprehensive Stroke certified unit that offers a solid foundation in nursing for new grads. The unit has a focus on acute strokes, neurosurgical interventions, such as craniotomies, spine procedures and VP shunts. In addition, a 4-bed epilepsy monitoring unit. The unit is fast‑paced and offers many learning opportunities.

Scope of Work

As a Registered Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, you will utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient- family centered care principles. The Registered Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Beaumont policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Associates or Diploma in Nursing from an ACEN accredited program, required. Bachelors in Nursing required within 5 years for GN or RN with less than 1 year of experience. Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) license, required.
• American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
