Job description

Responsibilities

Provides nursing care according to the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementing, and evaluating. Implements appropriate nursing care interventions. Administers medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established nursing policies and procedures. Care provided is based on defined standards of patient care and nursing evidence-based practice.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assumes responsibility for acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for patient care in the identified practice setting.
  2. Performs assessment and analyzes patient problems and conditions using critical decision-making to determine the need for standard, urgent, or emergent interventions.
  3. Implements and/or modifies the plan of care using assessment data, standards of care, and evidence-based practice, including nursing care coordination, patient and family education, and discharge planning.
  4. Facilitates interdisciplinary partnership in patient care.
  5. Integrates ethical provisions in nursing practice, delivering care that preserves patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  6. Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures.
  7. Evaluates progress toward patient outcomes.
  8. Demonstrates ongoing observations and reassessment of patient/family responses and condition changes.
  9. Documents assessments and interventions per hospital policy and standards of care.
  10. Utilizes resources appropriately and follows guidelines for documentation and equipment charging.
  11. Delegates tasks to support personnel based on patient needs, task complexity, and facility policy.
  12. Supports orientation, training, and development for new employees.
  13. Supports nursing students' clinical activities as appropriate.
Qualifications

Required Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current RN license in the State of Kentucky
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification (within 90 days of hire)
