The Cardiac Medicine unit is a 44 bed unit with an average length of stay of 2-6 days. It is a great unit to build a strong core foundation in med surg and telemetry. The Cardiac Medicine unit sees patients that have procedural cardiac interventions such as NSTEMI requiring cardiac interventions, pacemakers, cardioversions, cardiac ablations, and Watchman procedures. Patients needing medical management of A‑fib, and congestive heart failure. Patients may also be admitted for other medical or surgical conditions that require cardiac monitoring on a hard‑wired telemetry unit (sepsis, overdose, pneumonia, COPD, pulmonary embolism, acute kidney injury). There is a mix of new grads RNs, those with 5+ years of experience, and very experienced nurses (20-30 years). Staff are passionate about bedside nursing, share their knowledge and help each other learn. A family‑like culture where the team recognizes and celebrates each other's accomplishments and life events! Preceptors ensure new grad RNs are set up for success at the start of their careers with a thorough orientation. There are leadership opportunities for nurses to be involved with unit council, hospital‑wide committees, educating, precepting, as well as moving into charge nurse, etc. The unit has 8 and 12 hour shifts.
