Job Summary and Qualifications

• Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Texas Nursing Practice Act, with emphasis on nursing process outcomes for oncology patients with blood cancer and disorders.
• Determine the health status and needs of patients through interpretation of health data and preventive practice in collaboration with patients and healthcare team members.
• Utilize a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient.
• Formulate a nursing care plan based on nursing diagnoses and identified problems.
• Implement nursing care within the RN’s scope of practice, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
• Develop and implement teaching plans for patients concerning health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.

Qualifications Needed

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate Provider must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
• Bachelor's Degree required within 24 months of hire into RN position.
• Recent/Current Acute Care experience in a hospital setting.
• Previous experience in Oncology, BMT, Critical Care, ICU, or PCU.
