Job summary

BriteLife Recovery in New York is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our behavioral health team and help promote a safe, therapeutic environment for clients. You will maintain therapeutic relationships with patients in a setting designed to avoid chaotic hospital staffing and to support recovery.

The role emphasizes nursing care for individuals detoxifying from substance use, medication administration, crisis management, and accurate EHR documentation.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN or LPN in good standing in New York.
• Experience with documentation and data entry in an EHR.
• Experience with alcohol or substance use treatment preferred.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong customer service skills with staff and clients.
• Ability to assess needs and provide nursing care to detoxing individuals.
• Ability to screen for substance toxicity, intoxication, withdrawal symptoms.
• Ability to screen for danger to self or others.
• Ability to analyze data for nursing recommendations.
• Commitment to ethical and professional conduct.
• Participation in continuing professional development.
• Knowledge of toxicology testing limitations.
• Knowledge of treatments for alcohol, cocaine, and other drugs.
• Knowledge of medication-assisted therapy.
• Ability to educate individuals and groups about substance use.
• Knowledge of client record management principles.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe and therapeutic environment for clients.
• Maintain therapeutic relationships without chaotic hospital staffing.
• No bedpans, IVs, or bed alarms; clients perform ADLs.
• Assist Admissions process.
• Administer medications and treatments per policies.
• Carry out plan of care and medications orders.
• Educate clients on medication side effects and monitor.
• Monitor withdrawal symptoms.
• Maintain electronic health records (EHR).
• Provide crisis management.
• Promote BriteLife Recovery to clients and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy.
• Adhere to applicable standards of practice.
• Assist with problem-solving with the interdisciplinary team.
