Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Dubuque, IA is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for geropsychology/geriatric behavioral health. The role supports mental health, dignity, and well‑being of older adults on night shifts (7:00 pm–7:00 am). Part-time or full-time schedules are available, with a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a .90 FTE option per pay period.

Ideal candidates are BSN‑prepared with Iowa RN licensure and BLS, ready to join a dedicated Behavioral Health team focused on safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN must be obtained within 12 years of hire.
• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa (Iowa RN license)
• Must hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three months from date of hire

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for geriatric psychiatric patients.
• Monitor and document patient progress, behaviors, and responses to interventions.
• Provide patient and family education to support understanding of treatment plans and recovery goals.
• Promote safety by implementing de-escalation strategies and crisis intervention.
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
