Role Overview

Responsible for providing nursing care to patients requiring specialized judgment and skill, based on knowledge of natural, behavioral, nursing sciences, and humanities, applying the nursing process in both wellness and illness care. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver practice excellence through specialized assessment, care, evaluation, and education to patients and families, following established policies and procedures.
  • Promote evidence-based practice by utilizing research to develop, implement, and evaluate standards such as care plans, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Provide leadership in the clinical practice area.
  • Commit to learning excellence through ongoing professional development and clinical expertise.
  • Maintain role clarity via professional competence, expertise, and knowledge, supporting the nursing profession through role modeling and fostering growth and learning environments.

Education and Training Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (RN)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (RN)

Work Experience

  • No prior experience required

Licenses and Certifications

  • BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse licenses for Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills for assessing complex patient conditions and developing comprehensive care plans.
  • Ability to synthesize multiple information sources to address complex human responses.
  • Proficiency in applying technical nursing principles and techniques.
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on the nursing unit.

Supervision

  • The RN directs and delegates all patient care activities on nursing units.

Physical Demands

  • Activities include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motions.
  • Requires good balance and coordination.
  • Physical exertion includes exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. frequently.
  • Must have close visual acuity for patient assessment, data analysis, and other detailed tasks.
  • Frequent contact with patients and exposure to body fluids and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to react swiftly in emergency situations.
