Job Summary:
The RN Bed Management Coordinator plays a critical role in optimizing patient flow throughout the hospital system by coordinating bed assignments, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, and supporting patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes through the utilization of the bed tracking system. This position requires strong clinical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments and facilities to provide quality care to patients.
Position Responsibilities:
Coordinate patient bed assignments, ensuring appropriate placement based on clinical needs, bed availability, and hospital policies.
Monitor real-time bed occupancy and manage bed turnover to ensure timely admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Act as a key player in emergency response situations, ensuring the efficient allocation of beds for critically ill patients during surges or disasters.
Support the hospital's capacity management plan during peak demand periods.
Assist in triaging patient placement based on clinical criteria, acuity, and resource availability.
Maintain clear and effective communication with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to coordinate bed assignments and patient movements.
Communicate with external partners such as referring hospitals and patient transport services to facilitate smooth transfers.
Participate in bed management meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to enhance bed utilization and minimize delays.
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in acute care settings, with a preference for experience in emergency/critical care nursing, bed management, patient flow, or nursing administration.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Training / Certification / Licensure:
Current New Jersey RN license required.
CPR/BLS/ACLS required.
