Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago seeks an Assistant Unit Director RN (AUD) to serve as the clinical liaison and assistant business manager for a patient care unit(s). This role leads patient care delivery, implements unit initiatives, and ensures alignment with Rush policies and procedures.

The AUD oversees human, operational and organizational systems to support patient care, while exemplifying Rush mission and values.

Qualifications

• Current State of Illinois RN licensure.
• RN 2 level or equivalent experience.
• Progressive, proficient management and leadership skills.
• Nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher.
• National Certification within twelve months of hire.
• Analytical ability.
• Experience with electronic systems and technology.
• Ability to work in complex departmental systems.
• Strong communication to lead, teach and persuade.
• Ability to interact effectively in difficult situations.
• 24/7 responsibility for unit activities.
• Ability to assume charge nurse role.
• Ability to take a full patient assignment.
• Attention to document accuracy and data entry.

• Leads design, implementation and evaluation of process improvements.

• Promotes patient and family experience through staff education.
