Schedule: Full-time Nights 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Location: UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale Hospital, Med Surg Pre Post Surgical Unit, 120 N Oak Street, Hinsdale, IL

The Role You’ll Contribute:

The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises and coordinates patient care on the assigned nursing units, ensuring standards are met. Supports the unit by planning, directing, and evaluating nursing services to deliver quality patient care and organizational effectiveness. Completes chart audits to ensure accurate EMR documentation, coordinates staff educational needs, and contributes to strategic planning, quality improvement, and system enhancements.

  • Participates in daily rounding and promotes compliance with TWCE/Leader Rounding.
  • Maintains responsibility for the unit 24/7, with timely updates on delays.

  • Collaborates with staff to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Conducts behavioral-based interviews and participates in staff evaluations.
  • Provides feedback and guidance to staff, and participates in budget monitoring and variance reporting.
  • Rounds on patients and families, providing service recovery as needed.
  • Assists with patient flow, quality improvement activities, and staff development.
  • Monitors vacancy and turnover rates, and supports staff retention strategies.
  • Prepares departmental reports and ensures regulatory readiness.
  • Serves as a mentor and facilitates professional growth.
  • Plans projects, equipment, staffing, and space requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
