Job summary

Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND, offers an RN apprenticeship in partnership with Lake Region State College. Apprentices perform clinical skills under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and progress through three levels as they complete LRSC's curriculum.

Hours are flexible around school schedules, typically 15–20 hours per week, with starting pay at $22 per hour and incremental increases each semester.

Qualifications

• Acceptance into LRSC RN program prior to start date.
• Enrollment in LRSC RN curriculum during apprenticeship.
• Current nursing student status or RN program applicant.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily rounds on patients and coordinates care with the team.
• Develops a care plan based on assessment of patient needs and goals.
• Assesses nursing needs and prescribes actions to meet goals, including discharge planning.
• Monitors patient pain, responds per procedures, and documents observations.
• Communicates with multidisciplinary team and completes incident reports.
