Corewell Health's Ambulatory Care building in Grand Rapids is seeking a skilled Ambulatory Registered Nurse to join the Vascular Surgery team. The RN will provide high-quality outpatient care, triage referrals, perform wound care, and support post‑op visits in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

This full‑time day position offers a 36‑hour week on a rotating two‑week schedule (8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Mon–Fri; Week 2 includes Friday but off Thursday).

Qualifications

  • Requires Associate's Degree in Nursing and Michigan RN license on hire.
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications are required or preferred according to the role timelines.
  • Ideal candidate has cardio/vascular surgery or related ambulatory experience.

Responsibilities

About Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Clinic - Ambulatory Cardiology – 275 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Vascular Surgery team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our growing practice.

This position follows a two-week rotating schedule (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.):

  • Week 1: Monday through Friday
  • Week 2: Monday through Friday, with Thursday off

We are looking for an individual who is patient-focused, collaborative, and committed to delivering exceptional care in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Our team-based structure promotes a high level of clinical expertise, critical judgement, and autonomy, with opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration and career advancement.

Responsibilities Include
  • Triage new patient referrals (75% on the phone).
  • Answer the incoming nursing phone line.
  • Refill prescription medications.
  • Completion of In-Basket messages.
  • Provide wound care, well check visits, suture removal, and post-op patient visits (for the proper candidate).
Scope of Work

As a Nurse with Corewell Health, providing top-notch patient care is paramount. You'll use your critical thinking skills and the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. You'll be responsible for upholding the standards of nursing excellence as described by the ANA, including the code of ethics. You'll be a vital member of our team and strive to achieve the best possible outcomes, making a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

  • Assesses and monitors the overall needs of patients / family. Documents nursing care / teaching consistent with documentation guidelines. Ensures that required documentation for activities within areas of responsibility is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Develops / maintains an individualized patient plan of care with the patient and consistent with patient / family changing needs / goals, reflecting the full scope of practice. Delivers care in a manner that is culturally sensitive and preserves patient autonomy, dignity and rights.
  • Articulates the professional nursing role to the patient, family and health team members. Communicates with other members of the health care team, including triage of incoming calls, in order to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Acts as a patient / family advocate.
  • Initiates patient discharge planning at time of patient contact and facilitates a smooth transition to the next point of service / home.
  • Identifies, facilitates, and evaluates outcomes of nursing care for an individual patient or group of patients. Evaluates patients' and family educational needs; develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals.
  • Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the plan of care, guidelines of care, physician orders, and in accordance with health system policies, procedures, and ANA / regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Formulates decisions and actions based on ethical principles, using the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide practice. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
  • Assumes an autonomous leadership role and delegates appropriately to support staff to facilitate safe, quality patient care in a cost-effective manner. Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the application of clinical paths, QI processes, and other related activities.
Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree Nursing
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree Corewell Health Continuing Care and Corewell Health Medical Group do not require a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association WITHIN 90 DAYS Cardiovascular Advanced Heart Failure Ambulatory, Big Rapids Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab, Big Rapids Pre-Op Call, United Cardiac Rehab, Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Pediatric Cardiology - Lansing 90 Days required
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association Lake Drive Ambulatory Surgery Center, South Pavilion Ambulatory Surgery Center, pre/post/PACU nurses only, Pediatric Cardiology - Lansing 180 Days required
  • CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Big Rapids - Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab 90 Days preferred
  • Ideal candidate will be an RN possessing either Cardio, Vein, or Cardiovascular Surgery experience
  • This position follows a two-week rotating schedule (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.):
