Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital in Cleveland, OH is seeking an experienced RN to join the Pulmonary team, providing care across the patient journey in an ambulatory setting.

You will assess health status, administer medications, initiate CPR, and collaborate with care coordinators to ensure safe transitions of care. The role supports regional clinics and requires availability for 8:00am–5:00pm with potential evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or Red Cross.
  • One year of recent experience as an RN.
  • LPN, Medical Assistant or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience may substitute for RN in specific ambulatory Cleveland Clinic transfers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
  • Notify the physician/LIP of abnormal findings.
  • Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
  • Develop and document health education for patients and families.
  • Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth transitions of care.

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital provides comprehensive pulmonology services, including pulmonary function testing, lung nodule screenings and outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation. As an RN on the Pulmonary team, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education. This opportunity will not only allow you to advance your nursing skillset but also help to provide a safe and thorough visit as you are a vital part of assisting in the execution of the care plan.

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am to 5:00pm with potential evenings and weekends as needed.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
  • Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience and patient safety.
  • Cover other nursing roles within the department.
  • Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of recent experience as an RN
  • Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $33.50

Maximum hourly: $53.40
