We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse Ambulatory Navigator to support our Endocrinology Surgical and Thoracic Oncology Teams. This position works Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. no weekends, holidays, nights or call. Upon completion of onboarding and training, one remote workday per week is permitted. Guided by the core values of Compassion, Team, Excellence, and Purpose, the Nurse Navigator will work closely with our medical hematology oncology team to coordinate and manage the care needs of assigned patients, creating tailored care plans. In this role, you will engage with physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, and other health professionals to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of tests and treatments. As the primary contact for patients and the medical team, strong communication and organizational skills are essential!
Key Responsibilities:- Manage patient care throughout the continuum
- Assist providers and team members in an outpatient clinic setting
- Support outpatient procedures, including lab collections
- Aid in medication management and administration
- Facilitate prior authorizations for medications and procedures
- Provide ongoing patient education throughout their care journey
- Prepare charts for new patient visits
- Collect data, enter orders, and assist team members on high-volume days
- Attend and contribute to unit and organizational committees focused on process improvement, participate in daily huddles, and join scheduled staff meetings.
Qualifications:- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
- Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. 3-5 years of experience preferred.
- Oncology and/or surgical experience is preferred, but not required.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Specialty certifications may be required per unit/department specialty in accordance with the department provision of care.
- Requires knowledge of personal computers using various types of word processing and database software.
- Requires clinical work experience, medical terminology.
- Requires understanding of medical record requirements, regulations and policies.
