Job summary

The Cleveland Clinic Richard E. Jacobs Health Center in Avon, Ohio is seeking an experienced RN to join the Hematology and Medical Oncology team in an ambulatory setting. You will provide nursing care, perform assessments, manage medications, and participate in patient education.

Work hours are 8:00am–4:30pm with a Saturday rotation 8:00am–12:00pm about every 5–6 weeks; regional travel may be required to support clinics and procedures. RN licensure and BLS are required; BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing and hold current RN licensure.
• BLS certification through AHA or ARC.
• One year of RN or related clinical experience within ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting or current caregiver transitioning within the same specialty.
• Cancer-specific certification or ongoing qualifying education required.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
• Assess health status, perform nursing assessments, triage by phone, and develop care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments; initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
• Notify physician or LIP of abnormal findings and assist with diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
• Develop and document health education for patients and families; cover other nursing roles as needed.
• Travel within the region to support physician clinics and procedures.

The Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology is comprised of physicians, nurses, researchers, Advanced Practice Providers (APP) and other healthcare professionals specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers or disorders of the blood. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am to 4:30pm with a Saturday rotation occurring 8:00am to 12:00pm about every 5-6 weeks.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
• Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments.
• Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
• Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
• Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
• Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
• Cover other nursing roles within the department.
• Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
• Cancer-specific certification or demonstrated ongoing qualifying education

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
• Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $33.50

Maximum hourly: $53.40
