Job summary

Conway Regional Health System is seeking an Adult Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for a 2-South unit. The RN assesses adults with mental health diagnoses, develops and implements nursing care plans, and documents goals and interventions.

Strong teamwork and timely documentation are essential to ensure patient safety and quality care. Candidates must hold an Arkansas RN license (BSN preferred, certification preferred) with more than 6 months of RN experience, and provide proof of education.

Responsibilities

• Perform psychiatric nursing assessments for adult patients admitted to the unit.
• Initiate and document nursing care plans with diagnoses.
• Document and monitor long- and short-term goals on the care plan.
• Implement measurable interventions and document results.
• Communicate patient concerns and status changes, including behavioral changes.
• Assess teaching needs of patient and family; provide education.
• Maintain clinical competence and collaborate with the team.
• Ensure timely completion of required documentation and smooth intershift transitions.

Overview

2-South is an adult psychiatric unit. The Adult Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) will assume responsibility and accountability for the care of adult psychiatric patients with mental health diagnoses. The RN will complete a psychiatric nursing assessment on each assigned patient admitted to the unit. The Adult Psychiatric RN identifies, and documents patient needs based on subjective and objective data. Initiates a nursing care plan, identifying and documenting a nursing diagnosis/diagnoses from the psychiatric nursing assessment. Documents long and short-term goals on the nursing care plan. Documents and implements appropriate measurable and achievable interventions on the nursing care plan. Communicates patient concerns and/or changes in status, particularly behavioral changes. Identifies teaching needs of patient, family, and/or significant other. Maintains clinical competence in providing care to all patients. Assists in a smooth intershift transition. Demonstrates responsible decision making and professional judgment regarding patient care issues. Completes required documentation in a timely manner.

The RN will utilize the nursing process in the provision of care and will practice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and the policies, procedures and standards of the Health System. The RN will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork through effective collaboration efforts.

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:

This position is a designated as “Safety Sensitive Position” under Act 593 of the State of Arkansas. An employee who is under the influence of Marijuana constitutes a threat to patients/customers which Conway Regional is responsible for in providing and supporting the delivery health care related services.
