Job summary

Cape Fear Valley's Dorothea Dix Adolescent Care unit in North Carolina is seeking a Registered Nurse to plan and implement professional nursing care for adolescent patients. You will participate in an interdisciplinary team, ensure care aligns with hospital policies, and assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate's degree in nursing, license in North Carolina (or compact state), and are committed to trauma-informed care for teens; new grads are welcome

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current North Carolina RN license or compact licensure.
• New graduates welcome; psychiatric/behavioral health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient and identify patient care needs.
• Use assessment information to organize appropriate patient care.
• Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Administer medications as ordered by physician.
• Function as charge nurse as assigned.
• Maintain accurate and relevant record of patient care.
• Ensure a safe environment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary Health System staff and medical staff.
• Monitor quality of care based on outcome indicators.
• Support cost containment and accurate charging for patient services.
• Adjust care for age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs.
