Overview

This RN Administrative Supervisor will serve as the house supervisor, managing staffing and capacity for all of LCH. Responsibilities include rounding on teammates and collaborating with bed management to oversee patient flow.

Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) is committed to providing exceptional care for the growing pediatric population in our region. With 247 beds, LCH is the largest children’s hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC. It offers a comprehensive range of over 125 pediatric subspecialists across more than 30 specialties, including a 10-bed PICU, a 10-bed Cardiac ICU (expanding to 24 beds PICU and 20 beds CVICU by the end of 2024), an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation unit. LCH is Charlotte’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and has been recognized as a Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 17 consecutive years, ranking #1 in North Carolina and tied for #1 in the southeastern US. Job Summary

The supervisor oversees hospital operations, focusing on communication, patient throughput, patient experience, quality, safety, and compliance. They act as an administrative designee, responding to immediate needs and assisting with investigations or emergency responses. The role emphasizes promoting safety and maintaining professional competency in patient care supervision.

Essential Functions

  1. Communicates administrative issues and actions to nurse leaders, the Administrator-On-Call, and senior leadership as appropriate. Conducts rounds on all units to evaluate efficiency, productivity, and satisfaction among patients, staff, and physicians.
  2. Guides staff in understanding and complying with healthcare laws, the Nursing Practice Act, and organizational policies.
  3. Facilitates communication through regular huddles and meetings to exchange information and foster dialogue.
  4. Coordinates resource utilization to meet patient care needs effectively.
  5. Supervises nursing personnel, addresses performance issues, and documents actions and findings, communicating with relevant managers or the Administrator-On-Call.
  6. Provides guidance on administering treatments and medications, interprets policies, and responds to emergencies.
  7. Manages shift patient flow, including participation in placement meetings and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams for admissions and discharges.
  8. Assesses staffing needs continuously, utilizing resources like Float Pool and PRN personnel to ensure appropriate coverage.

Physical Requirements

Requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 35 pounds, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must have fluent English communication skills, intact senses, finger dexterity, and strong critical thinking abilities.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current RN licensure. Two years of nursing experience preferred, along with management experience. BSN is required; candidates without a BSN must enroll within 1 year and complete within 3 years. BLS and CPI certifications are mandatory within specified timeframes. Professional certification within 1 year of eligibility is also required.
