UnityPoint Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Younker Rehab - Methodist unit in Des Moines. Full-time and part-time shifts are available, with a limited-time $20,000 RN sign-on bonus and relocation assistance up to $10,000 for eligible full-time offers.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; IA Board approved program.
• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
• New graduates or RNs with <12 months in this dept participate in RN Residency program.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients using the nursing process.
• Completes documentation to ensure an accurate record of patient care.
• Uses critical thinking to make independent judgments and monitors patient conditions.
• Collaborates with physicians and other professionals to plan and implement care.
• Assesses patient and family needs, provides discharge teaching and coordinates referrals.

Des Moines is offering a $20,000 sign-on bonus for full-time eligible RNs hired or offered into acute inpatient roles between April 1 and October 31, 2026, paid in milestone-based installments.

Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000 for full-time offers when relocating more than 50 miles

Younker Rehabilitation has been providing rehabilitation services to the Des Moines area for over 60 years. We have 59 licensed beds with sister units located at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran Hospital. We serve a diverse group of patients with diagnosis that include: strokes, neurologic disorders, amputees, trauma, oncology, and patients needing rehabilitation after a major medical illness. All patients receive a minimum of three hours of therapy daily and 24 hour acute nursing and physician monitoring and management. We are CARF accredited and are passionate about getting our patients home and providing support and services needed for a safe and successful transition. • Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
• Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient’s care.
• Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
• Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations.
• Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care.
• Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
• Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa

Experience:

• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
  • All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, are required to participate in the RN Residency program.
