Job summary

Rust Medical Center, part of Presbyterian Healthcare Services, seeks an RN for the Progressive Care Unit (step-down) to monitor adult patients with complex needs. The unit emphasizes teamwork, bedside care, and rapid response in a fast-paced environment.

New graduates may join the Nurse Residency Program with monthly seminars, mentoring, and supportive groups. Sign-on and relocation bonuses are available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Associate Degree: Degree from accredited nursing program preferred
  • Nursing
  • Registered Nurse-NM
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License Academic Preparation:
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Cares for adult patients on Progressive Care Unit needing monitoring but not ICU level care
  • Performs continuous monitoring and 24-hour care with specialized equipment
  • Collaborates with physicians and other specialties to provide life-saving interventions
  • Educates patients and family members about care plans
  • Participates in teamwork to deliver excellent patient-centered care

Responsibilities

Our step-down Progressive Care Unit cares for a variety of adult patients and conditions who require monitoring but does not warrant care in the Intensive Care Unit. Many of our patients require continuous monitoring and complex 24-hour care while working with specialized equipment in a fast-paced environment requiring highly skilled, proactive, and dedicated nurses. The unit cares for patients with complications from chronic diseases such as diabetes, to post‑op orthopedic patients, evaluation of those with cardiac changes, providing life‑saving interventions, collaborating with other specialties, and educating patients and family members. Our unit features large private rooms each with standard lift equipment and bedside computers that allow physicians and nurses instant access to medical records at bedside. Collaboration, teamwork and attentiveness to the needs of each patient are key components to the excellent care provided to our patient populations at Rust Medical Center.
