Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, individuals must uphold the voice of the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical and critical thinking, and ensuring individualized care. Coordinate care through effective partnerships, recognizing caring as central to achieving optimal patient outcomes.
  • Relationship-Based Patient Care: Provide patient-centered care that considers population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and reflects cultural understanding.
  • Partnership with Patients and Families: Engage with patients and significant others through methods like bedside reports, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and updates, making patient goals central to the care plan.
  • Practice Standards: Follow current clinical practice standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality care, promoting respectful interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by practicing responsibly, supporting recruitment and retention, and participating in performance improvement activities and shared governance.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Complete all competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Serve as preceptor or mentor to ensure workforce development and model professional nursing practice.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Promote research, evidence-based practice, and performance improvement activities, including data collection and clinical question formulation.
Resources and Support
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum.
  • Develop protocols and procedures to improve practice outcomes.
Minimum Education & Certifications
  • Associates or Bachelors Nursing preferred.
  • RN license (single-state or multi-state compact) and BLS certification required upon hire.
Experience
