Job summary

UF Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide individualized patient care within the nursing process. The RN will collaborate with the treatment team, perform comprehensive assessments, and deliver medications and therapies in a safe, standards-driven environment.

Qualifications include ADN, Florida RN license, and BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications. Critical care and CVICU experience are preferred, with emphasis on documenting care and educating patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Delivers direct patient care including administering medications, wound care, injections, IV infusions and other treatments.
• Recognizes and intervenes in life-threatening emergencies with appropriate emergency therapies.
• Documents assessments, care provided, procedures performed and patient responses to treatment.
• Provides patient and family education on health conditions, medications and follow-up care.
• Adheres to OSHA guidelines and quality control methods.

Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing the individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process. The RN provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, evaluation, and patient health education within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

• Coordinates care in collaboration with members of the patient's treatment team to provide assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation services.


• Performs physical exams, health histories, nursing assessment and routine observation for patients within established time frames.


• Provides direct patient care including administering medications, wound care, injections, intravenous infusions and other treatment interventions while operating standard critical care equipment safely and correctly.


• Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening emergencies, including the administration of emergency drugs, and defibrillator or other emergency treatment.


• Documents patient assessment findings, care rendered, procedures performed, and other various aspects of patient plan of care making periodic updates related to the patient's condition and response to treatment.


• Provides patient and family health education based on assessed needs for indicated health conditions, medications, overall wellness, and directions for follow up care.


• Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and quality control methods.
