Overview

Maple Heights Behavioral Health is a 120-bed inpatient hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, providing comprehensive treatment for adolescents, adults, and seniors who are struggling with acute symptoms of various mental health disorders.

RN Registered Nurse opportunities are available for full-time or part-time roles. Compensation includes a competitive hourly rate based on experience, shift differentials where applicable, and sign-on bonuses for full-time positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about health conditions.
• Provide nursing care within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined by state regulations and facility policies.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed per policy and procedure.
• Assess patient status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in status and respond to clinical challenges.
• Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon admission and tailor them to assessed needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge and use of universal precautions in direct patient care.
• Administer medications accurately and document controlled substance administration as required.
• Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately.
• Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients, respecting boundaries and maintaining professional conduct.
• Coordinate unit activities as directed and communicate professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in inpatient treatment.

Education, Licensure, Experience, and Skills

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by state of employment or be eligible to practice nursing per state requirements.
• One year of nursing experience; previous psychiatric, mental health, or substance abuse nursing experience is a plus.
• CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Compensation and Schedule

• Rates generally range from $36-$51 per hour, based on experience, with shift differentials where applicable.
• Day Shift: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm; 10,000 USD sign-on bonus for full-time.
• Night Shift: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am; 10,000 USD sign-on bonus for full-time; 3 12-hour shifts and every other weekend.
• Part-time benefits: 2 12-hour shifts and 1 weekend per month.
