The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department. You will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care to acutely ill and injured patients alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Candidates should hold a BSN (or be enrolled), possess DC RN licensure or eligibility, and have 1+ year ED/critical care experience. BLS/ACLS/PALS are required; TNCC within 1 year of hire is expected.

Qualifications

• BSN or currently enrolled.
• DC RN License, or eligibility.
• 1+ year ED or critical care experience preferred.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• TNCC certification within 1 year of hire.
• Strong clinical skills and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced ED.
• Perform rapid assessments and develop/implement care plans.
• Administer medications and perform procedures with monitoring.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, plans, and prevention.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Level I Trauma Center's Emergency Department, you will be at the forefront of providing critical care to patients with urgent and life‑threatening medical conditions. Our Emergency Department is known for its fast‑paced environment and its commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research. You will work alongside a dedicated team of medical professionals to deliver high‑quality care and support to patients and their families during critical times.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a dynamic, challenging emergency department setting.
• Perform assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement care for patients across a wide range of conditions.
• Administer medications, perform procedures, and monitor patient responses to treatment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and research opportunities.
