Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital's Emergency Department is a 62-bed Level I Trauma Center in downtown Washington, DC, delivering rapid, high-quality emergency care with teaching and research integration.

As a Registered Nurse in our ED, you will provide comprehensive acute care, perform assessments, administer medications, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in quality improvement initiatives to support patient and family needs in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• BSN or currently enrolled in a nursing program.
• DC RN License, or eligibility.
• At least 1 year of clinical experience in an emergency department or critical care setting preferred.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification within 1 year of hire.
• Exceptional clinical skills and judgment.
• Strong ability to work under pressure and react effectively in emergency situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a dynamic, challenging emergency department setting.
• Perform assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement care for patients across a wide range of conditions.
• Administer medications, perform procedures, and monitor patient responses to treatments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and research opportunities.
