Job summary

Maimonides Medical Center in New York, NY, is seeking a full-time RN for the Nursing/Float Progressive Care unit. The role provides direct nursing care to patients on a 7pm–7:30am schedule, emphasizing assessment, intervention, and communication with the care team.

Qualified candidates will have NYS RN licensure, BLS, and preferably a BSN. ACLS is preferred, with telemetry experience and strong clinical skills expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current New York State licensure as a registered nurse.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients under Nursing Director supervision.
• Communicate with patients, families, and team in timely, accurate manner.
• Apply critical thinking to achieve patient outcomes and solve problems.
• Engage in relationship-based care and teach patients to promote health.
• Manage assignments and resources effectively and document care.
• Demonstrate leadership within the unit consistent with role and experience.
• Utilize evidence-based practice and teamwork to deliver care.
• Perform duties as outlined for Maimonides Medical Center’s specialty unit.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as required.

Overview

Under the general supervision of the Nursing Director or Assistant Nursing Director provides direct nursing care to patients.

NURSING / FLOAT PROGRESSIVE CARE

Full-Time

7pm - 7:30am

• Maintains competencies in individual field of responsibility

• Acts as preceptor for new health care team members
• Utilizes computer systems as they pertain to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy

• Participates in MMC's ongoing Quality Performance Improvement initiatives; identifies opportunities for organizational improvements.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing school required; BSN preferred.
• Current NYS licensure as RN required.
• Current BLS certification required. Current ACLS certification preferred.

Experience

• Professional nursing experience appropriate to the service and the position.
• 1-2 years Telemetry experience preferred.
