Wise Path Recovery Centers is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct nursing care for patients in substance use disorder and behavioral health treatment. You will work within a multidisciplinary team on a behavioral health-focused unit.

The role emphasizes compassionate, evidence-based care, with 12-hour shifts and opportunities for day and night coverage. West Virginia licensure and AMAP training readiness are valued as part of ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current and unrestricted RN license in West Virginia.
  • CPR/BLS certification required or obtainable within the required timeframe.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Willingness to complete AMAP instructor/trainer training as applicable to the role.

What You'll Do

As a Registered Nurse, you'll provide direct nursing care to patients receiving substance use disorder and behavioral health treatment.


Responsibilities include:



  • Conduct nursing assessments and monitor patients throughout treatment.

  • Administer medications safely and accurately in accordance with provider orders and facility protocols.

  • Monitor patients experiencing withdrawal and identify changes in medical or behavioral condition.

  • Obtain and document vital signs and other clinical observations.

  • Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the appropriate medical provider.

  • Support medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and withdrawal-management protocols as ordered.

  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment, recovery, and overall wellness.

  • Respond appropriately to medical and behavioral emergencies.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic health record.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team communication and care coordination.

  • Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners, physicians, behavioral health technicians, therapists, and other members of the treatment team.

  • Maintain medication security and follow medication administration and controlled-substance procedures.

  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, emergency response, and facility protocols.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and organizational requirements.

  • Support Joint Commission, state licensing, and other applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • Support the facility's medication administration program and medication safety practices.

  • Complete required qualifications to support AMAP training and competency validation for eligible team members.

  • Provide education, coaching, and oversight to staff regarding medication administration practices within their authorized scope.

  • Assist leadership with maintaining AMAP training, competency, and compliance requirements.

Requirements


  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or applicable multistate privilege.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.

  • Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.

  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

  • Willingness and ability to complete required training and become an Approved Medication Assistive Personnel (AMAP) instructor/trainer, as applicable to the role and West Virginia requirements.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, detoxification, residential treatment, psychiatric nursing, or a related healthcare environment.

  • Experience with withdrawal-management protocols.

  • Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).

  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care.


Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

This position works on-site in a behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment environment.


The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and patient interaction throughout the shift. Nurses must be able to respond promptly to medical and behavioral emergencies and safely perform the physical functions required to provide patient care.


The position also requires the emotional resilience and professional judgment necessary to work with individuals experiencing withdrawal, behavioral health concerns, emotional distress, and crisis situations.
