Qualifications

  • CA RN license required to practice in California.
  • CPR/BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • PALS or ENPC certification required.
  • TNCC certification within 18 months of hire.
  • MICN and CEN certifications are a plus.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Render direct and indirect nursing care per licensure and MMC policies.
  • Assess patients, plan and evaluate care interventions.
  • Direct nursing team to coordinate nursing services.
  • Age-specific unit requirements may vary by assignment.
  • Follow orientation and competency checklists for the role.

  • Rendering direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patient populations in a manner consistent with the scope of licensure, the California Nurse Practice Act, and Mercy Medical Center (MMC) policies and procedures
  • Assessing patients for nursing needs, establishing and implementing a problem-oriented plan of care, and evaluating the effectiveness of the interventions provided
  • Providing immediate direction to other members of the nursing care team to ensure the appropriate provision and coordination of nursing services
  • Acknowledging that patient age populations served and specific job competencies may vary depending on the assigned nursing unit
  • Utilizing the 'Department / Unit Orientation & Initial Assessment of Competency' checklists, which are incorporated by reference, to define the specific requirements of this job description
  • 15K Sign On Bonus for Eligible/Qualified/Experienced External Candidates with minimum 2yrs ED RN Experience
Job Requirements

Required

  • Registered Nurse: CA
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), within eighteen (18) months

Preferred

  • Current MICN
  • Previous acute or emergency experience a plus
  • Certification for Emergency Nurse (CEN) Certificate
  • Bilingual

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
