Community Medical Center in New Jersey seeks a Registered Nurse for the Medical-Surgical Unit I on the night shift. The RN provides nursing care within the scope of practice, maintains patient safety, collaborates with the care team, and uses evidence-based practices.

The hospital is a 592-bed teaching facility with extensive services, rewards PTO, benefits, and opportunities for certification. Candidates must have ASN or Diploma, NJ RN license, and BLS/ACLS; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• ASN or Nursing Diploma required.
• Active New Jersey RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• 1–2 years’ experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within the scope of practice and ANA/regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and report safety issues as needed.
• Supervise delegation and collaborate with the care team.
• Set priorities and deliver care with measurable outcomes.
• Utilize nursing process to customize the plan of care.

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical Unit I at Community Medical Center.

Community Medical Center, is a 592-bed, fully accredited acute care hospital offering area residents world-class medical treatment with the comforts of hometown care. Opened in 1961, CMC has evolved into the state’s newest teaching hospital with four residency programs and Ocean County’s largest and most active health care facility—caring for over 21,500 inpatients, 178,000 outpatients and 73,700 emergency department patients each year.

Qualifications:

• ASN or Nursing Diploma
• One to two years’ experience within specialty
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
• Must possess and maintain a valid N.J. State Driver’s License

Preferred:

• BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
• Completion of Clinical experience in NLN accredited school
• Screening Certification eligibility
• National Certification

Scheduling Requirements:

• Night shift, 36hours per week

Essential Functions:

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
