Job description

Position Summary

Plan, lay out, weld, install, test, and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Plan, diagram, and lay out for pipe welder’s work.
2. Coordinate with field labor crew for efficient installations.
3. Position the weld setup, fit the piping, and perform welds involving a high degree of precision independently.
4. Lay out and assemble pipes accurately according to production standards, quality requirements, safety requirements, codes, design, and specifications.
5. Make welding repairs and correct substandard welds.
6. Assist with coordination of pre-fabrication layout or installation.
7. Assist with rigging of material.
8. Operate industry machines and tools such as air arc gouger, grinder, stress relieving machine.
9. Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, and determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed.
10. Inspect subordinate’s work for compliance, point out deficiencies, and take corrective actions.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience.
• Strong working knowledge and skills for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions; effective communication skills.
• Proficient in safe use of electrical, hand, power, and layout tools, as well as measurement tools.

Requirements:

• Ability to move about a construction/industrial site, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
• Must have RMD welding experience.
• This is a night shift position.
• Must pass welding test.
• Valid US Driver License required.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms, and to move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work in noisy and dusty environments.
• Pass pre-access drug, alcohol testing, and medical fitness assessments.
