Job summary

Planet Aid, Inc. is seeking a Retail Mobility Aide (RMA) to assist in routing, collection, and bin placement. The role supports the Transportation/Production Manager, driving efficiency and maximizing collected pounds across routes.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of truck driving experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and is capable of training drivers and auditing routes. A valid license and DOT medical card are required, with safety gear provided on site.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and 3-5 years of truck driving experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents; effective communication with managers, supervisors and employees.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a DOT medical card; driving record must meet insurability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Check drivers in and out, including truck assignment and vehicle inspection.
  • Run collection routes and pick up overflows as needed.
  • Train Drivers per Planet Aid’s Driver Training Manual.
  • Audit drivers and Routes and investigate theft.
  • Verify routes are run as planned and bins are fully emptied.
  • Replace locks, barcodes, and other bin maintenance tasks.
  • Assist manager with routing and reroute collection routes and territories.
  • Monitor truck tracking applications and update the routing database promptly.

The RMA is a seasoned and a proven responsible driver, who does all jobs assigned by the Manager to help make the collection run smoothly and maximize the pounds.

The RMA is a seasoned and a proven responsible driver, who does all jobs assigned by the Manager to help make the collection run smoothly and maximize the pounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other Responsibilities May Be Assigned)
  • Check drivers in and out, including:
  • Truck assignment, vehicle inspection, ensuring that drives have correct paperwork and promptly leave for their routes. Sign bin keys in and out.
  • Run collection routes and pick up overflows as needed.
  • The RMA may have a few regular routes assigned on a weekly basis, or may just run routes that are uncovered due to driver call out.

  • Investigate Theft
  • Conduct internal/external investigations
  • Verifying that routes are being run as planned
  • Verify bins fully emptied
  • Verify drivers are driving responsibly
  • Fix bin issues in the field
  • Replace locks and barcodes and other minor bin maintenance
  • Replace bins on sites
  • Attend to dumping and trash issues
  • Assist the manager with routing
  • Reroute collection routes and territories
  • Monitoring the truck tracking applications
  • Ensure that the collection Database is updated in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATION/COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma/GED and 3-5 years of truck driving, additional experience being a team leader is preferred: or the equivalent combination of education and experience:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors and employees. Must be able to read, speak, write and understand Basic English. Must have good interpersonal communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions and percentages to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Must hold a valid driver’s license, be able to obtain a DOT medical card and their driving record must meet company insurability standards. Proficient in computer skills and applications such as Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel). Familiarity with data base record keeping to record and track information, as well as other online applications such as mapping and routing tools such as Route Savvy. Must be detailed oriented. Self-driven, result-oriented and motivated to work without constant supervision. Ability to prioritize workflow. Must be flexible in adapting to changing requirements and priorities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand and sit. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds repetitively. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Truck/office/warehouse setting some exposure to the elements. Planet Aid will provide PPE equipment- as far as safety shoes, gloves and any other clothing needed to perform jobs.
