Position Details

Working/Functional Title: River Trail Cook I

Position Summary: Will prepare, season, cook, and portion a wide variety of foods in Culinary Services; work within a diverse workforce in an ever-changing environment; organize work area and student staff to provide exceptional food service to a large student-based food service. Location: Thrive at Owen.

All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In case of university closure or suspension of operations due to snow or emergencies, personnel are expected to report to work as scheduled. Remote work agreements may require on-site work to serve the MSU community.

Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to follow prescribed recipes.
  • Working knowledge of cooking methods, processes, and materials.
  • Two years of satisfactory experience as a Food Service Worker or equivalent training and experience.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts.
  • Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules.
  • Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds.

Customer-oriented with the ability to anticipate service and customer demands; proactive and highly flexible.
