Job summary

Yaamava' Resort & Casino is seeking a Risk Specialist to support the YRC Safety team. The role leverages RMIS data and dashboards to monitor performance, identify trends, and ensure incident data quality.

You will assist with reporting, vendor invoicing, and safety program materials while coordinating training and meetings. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Business, Finance, or closely related field.
  • Minimum two years of directly related EHS or risk management experience required.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification required or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage incident data in RMIS with high accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyze risk, safety, environmental, and reliability data to identify trends and corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for executives; present findings clearly and concisely.
  • Track and reconcile expenditures and invoicing from third-party vendors.
  • Develop training materials, job aids, and presentations for YRC Safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, and training activities for the safety team.
  • Support additional duties to ensure efficient department operation.

Job description

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Quality, Safety and Compliance, the Risk Specialist supports the Yaamava' Resort & Casino Safety team (YRC Safety) by leveraging data, dashboards, and safety management information systems to monitor performance, track key metrics, and identify trends. Responsible for administering a full range of technical and administrative support functions for YRC Safety and proactively collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to implement property-wide safety programs. This role also supports compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local safety regulations and requirements by team members, vendors, and contractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1. Ensures high-quality, error-free incident processing within the Risk Management Information System (RMIS). Receives, reviews, and enters incident data daily; creates and distributes reports; and provides accurate, professional, and timely responses to internal and external stakeholders regarding incident status and related inquiries.
  • 2. Identifies, tracks, and maintains complex process data related to risk, safety, environmental, and reliability concerns, and recommends corrective actions as appropriate. Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations governing departmental operations, and processes all documentation in accordance with established standards.
  • 3. Supports incident data analysis by preparing reports, identifying trends, and monitoring incident rates. Compiles and organizes data for executive-level presentations, reports, and other business materials.
  • 4. Tracks and manages financial expenditures, including the collection, reimbursement, and reconciliation of third‑party invoices. Maintains ongoing communication with service providers regarding invoicing for services rendered on behalf of YRC Safety. Compiles and analyzes data related to third‑party services, including costs, invoicing trends, and forecasting needs.
  • 5. Supports YRC Safety‑related projects by developing and updating materials, job aids, training resources, schedules, and presentations.
  • 6. Provides administrative support to YRC Safety management by coordinating project schedules, meetings, and training activities. Assists with the planning, organization, and facilitation of team meetings and training sessions.
  • 7. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Business, Finance, or closely related field is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of directly related experience in the field of environmental, health and safety or related industry required.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
  • Must possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as internet research methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing a Risk Management Information System (RMIS) preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present information through written reports and presentations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated maturity and professionalism, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and conduct work in compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and apply a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Possession of an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-Hour Certification is required, or the ability to obtain the certification within one (1) year of hire
  • No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver's license or insurance.
