Job summary

Anne Arundel County Government seeks a full-time Assistant Manager, Safety and Insurance in the Office of Central Services. This senior role manages the county’s self-insurance program and coordinates commercial insurance for county operations.

The position involves hazardous condition identification, loss control, and claims coordination, with oversight of safety education and MOSH reporting. A four-year degree and insurance/safety experience are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in risk management, safety-engineering, or related field.
• One (1) or more years of experience in safety, occupational risk insurance, or a related field.
• A valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.

Responsibilities

• Identify hazardous conditions and investigate injuries and accidents; develop programs to reduce risk exposure.
• Coordinate self-insurance funding and commercial policies and leases for county properties; maintain property inventories and ensure coverage.
• Manage contracts for Personal Protective Equipment and safety gear.
• Conduct safety inspections and recommend practical solutions to hazards.
• Perform ergonomic assessments, investigate workplace incidents, and assist in MOSH inspections.
• Coordinate and assist in review of vehicle, general liability, and other claims; ensure proper investigations and settlements.
• Maintain accident, injury, and loss records; prepare and submit required reporting (BLS, MOSH).
• Perform related work as required.
