Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Risk/Quality Specialist (RN) to join our team in Johnstown, PA. You will help advance patient safety and quality outcomes through risk management activities.

Requirements include PA RN license, BSN within 3 years, 5 years acute care nursing, and strong computer skills including Excel. This is a full-time role with comprehensive benefits and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• RN license valid in PA or multi-state
• BSN or higher; BSN within 3 years preferred
• At least five years of acute care nursing experience
• Proficient computer skills including Excel and word processing; statistics coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gains knowledge to provide risk management resources to the organization regarding Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety.
• Develop and deliver educational sessions on Clinical Risk Management, Patient Safety, Joint Commission, Department of Health, or Performance Excellence; sessions include diverse audiences.
• Enter and run reports for electronic event systems (e.g., SIM, Patient Safety Authority).
• Support SIM process in absence of analysis.
• Investigate incidents and facilitate root cause analysis as needed.
• Participate in claim investigations with legal teams.
• Participate in Joint Commission and Department of Health surveys.
• Collaborate to maintain Updated Organizational Policy Manual and form new policies related to Patient Safety and Risk Management.

Job Type: Full-time | generally flexible to 7:30- 1600 or 0900-1730. No weekend shifts and no on call.

How You'll Contribute

A Risk/Quality Specialist (RN) who excels in this role:

• Resource / Expert - Gains appropriate knowledge base to provide resources / expertise to the organization regarding Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety.
• Education - Develop and/or provide educational sessions related to Clinical Risk Management, Patient Safety, Joint Commission, Department of Health, or Performance Excellence; educational sessions include but are not limited to educational sessions to various diverse audiences including: for residents, physicians, nurses, new employee orientation, new physician orientation, and others as requested, Safe Choices...
• Enter and run reports for electronic event systems, such as Safety Incident Management system (SIM), Patient Safety Authority, etc.
• Support SIM process in absence of analysis
• Investigate incidents and facilitate root causes as needed.
• Participating in claim investigations-supports the discovery process-working with legal teams
• Participate in survey teams such as Joint Commission and Department of Health.
• Collaborate with others in maintaining updated Organizational Policy Manual and formation of new policies related to Patient Safety and Risk Management.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current PA state or multistate RN license and possess bachelor's degree (or obtain BSN within 3 years) from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• BSN, Advanced degree in nursing, business, or education preferred
• Five years of full-time acute care, clinical nursing experience, basic computer skills
• Proficient computer skills, including Excel spreadsheets and word processing; coursework in statistics preferred.
