This is a fully remote position. Applicants must reside in the following states: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Texas, or Colorado.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES

This position executes specific essential functions within the second line Risk Management Division to support SouthState's Enterprise Risk Management Framework, designed to provide a consolidated view of risk in the organization and ensure compliance with the company's Risk Appetite Statement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Support ERM management in executing, maintaining, and enhancing the Company's Risk Management program.
  2. Provide second line oversight for designated front-line business areas.
  3. Assist other ERM Risk Managers or designated business lines in creating and maintaining risk assessments through Risk Registers, RCSAs, and other assessments, including:
  • Understanding and identifying enterprise and business process risks.
  • Guiding business units to capture risks, controls, and issues in the company's GRC system and ensuring they are addressed according to risk appetite.
  • Supporting Business Process Risk Assessments.
  • Participating in initiatives like new products/services to identify and address risks.
  • Maintain communication channels with partners to gather risk data and promote a strong risk culture.
  • Develop partnerships with business units and stakeholders, providing sound risk advice.
  • Collaborate on continuous improvement of risk management activities and oversee operational functions such as:
    • Executing ERM Program initiatives.
    • Developing departmental procedures and reports.
    • Performing administrative and project management duties.
  • Support training on ERM Framework, operational risk topics, and industry practices.
  • Update knowledge and skills through professional training.

    Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
    • Education: Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience in risk management.
    • Experience: 5+ years in Risk Management and/or Internal Audit in banking preferred.
    • Certifications/Knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with GRC applications preferred.
    TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES

    Annual compliance training and New Employee Orientation.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Ability to interpret information on screens, reports, and documents; extensive computer use; ability to sit or stand at a desk.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Remote work requires a secure, quiet home office with reliable internet, preferably cable or fiber. Requirements may evolve with technology updates.

    TRAVEL

    Up to 20% travel may be required for meetings.

    Salary in Colorado: $99,237.00 - $158,521.00, based on skills, experience, and education. We encourage applications beyond the deadline as we may consider candidates afterward.
