Selby Jennings is partnered with one of the top global proprietary trading firms that is looking to bring on a Risk Manager to support their energy trading activities. Reporting directly into the Head of Commodities Risk, the Risk Manager will be responsible for establishing & maintain risk frameworks for different trading strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with trading teams to identify and define their unique risk exposures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk management frameworks tailored to various trading strategies.
  • Oversee daily trading activities to ensure compliance with established risk limits and evaluate risk positions.
  • Communicate risk insights and assessments to Traders and Portfolio Managers.
  • Prepare and deliver risk reports for senior leadership.
  • Contribute to the evolution of risk management practices by designing, building, and utilizing effective tools and reporting systems.
  • Stay informed on market trends, risk drivers, and factors influencing portfolio performance and risk.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative discipline is required; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Prior experience in risk management within an energy trading environment.
  • Familiarity with Power ISO/RTO markets and related products.
  • Understanding of Natural Gas markets and products.
  • Experience managing risk in FTR (Financial Transmission Rights) portfolios is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools such as SQL, VBA, Python, or R; programming experience is beneficial.
  • Experience with power analytics platforms is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and sound decision-making abilities.
