The Opportunity

A top-tier global proprietary trading firm is seeking a Risk Manager to lead risk oversight for its rapidly expanding systematic commodities division. With a multi-asset footprint across global markets, the firm is now doubling down on commodities strategies—building dedicated pods and infrastructure to support cross-commodity market making and directional risk-taking.

This hire will play a mission-critical role in ensuring robust market and liquidity risk controls across a dynamic and high-growth book, working closely with traders, engineers, and the wider risk leadership.

What You’ll Do

• Design and manage risk controls for commodities trading strategies, with coverage across market, operational, and liquidity risk.
• Liaise directly with Execution Trading and PMs to enforce risk limits and remediate breaches without disrupting strategy performance.
• Develop tail-risk and stress-test frameworks specific to commodities market behavior, volatility regimes, and inventory dynamics.
• Oversee onboarding of new strategies and help shape how the firm assesses risk across oil, gas, metals, power, and agricultural products.
• Drive implementation of performance metrics and analytics that allow for deeper evaluation of strategy-level risk-adjusted returns.
• Partner with senior leadership on expanding risk tooling, dashboards, and monitoring infrastructure.

What We’re Looking For

• 5–10 years of experience in commodities or macro trading risk roles within a hedge fund, prop firm, or leading investment bank.
• Deep understanding of market making, volatility risk, liquidity dynamics, and trading desk behaviors within commodities.
• Strong analytical and programming skills (Python, SQL); experience building tools or dashboards a plus.
• Confident communicator with the gravitas to engage senior PMs and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to operate in high-throughput environments with minimal oversight.
