As a Vice President within the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Asset Managers Credit Risk Team, you will be responsible for a portfolio of asset managers and funds, serving as the primary coverage for these credit relationships. Your duties include managing client portfolios, overseeing transaction structures, conducting counterparty due diligence, and continuously monitoring exposure across traditional bank lending products, structured financing, and capital markets trading activities. The team manages exposure to North American-based Traditional and Alternative Asset Management firms, Private Capital Sponsors, and related client entities engaged in diverse investment strategies.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Perform client due diligence and financial analysis; prepare credit approval memos and reviews.
  2. Review and approve counterparty trading activity, recommend collateral requirements, and structural enhancements.
  3. Provide credit expertise in structuring loan and derivative transactions.
  4. Set and communicate credit exposure appetite across trading products using internal methodologies.
  5. Oversee legal negotiations for traded products and traditional lending.
  6. Serve as the principal contact and collaborate with colleagues across various departments, including Markets Trading, Structuring, Prime Brokerage, Investor Client Management, Treasury & Security Services, Legal, IB Coverage, and Debt Capital Markets.
  7. Assess creditworthiness of clients, assign credit ratings, and maintain updated credit research on a portfolio of clients.
  8. Lead group-wide efficiency projects and stay current on all aspects of credit relationships, including exposure, compliance, and potential issues.
  9. Lead credit due diligence for bank and bond transactions, including M&A, LBOs, and refinancings.
  10. Supervise, review, and contribute to analysis and seek approvals for transactions.
  11. Perform agent role for syndicated transactions, including negotiations and documentation of amendments and waivers.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 6+ years of credit risk experience within financial services, especially leveraged, subscription, and structured financing.
  • Knowledge of Asset Management, Financial Technology, and Financial Institutions industries.
  • Strong credit and analytical skills, with a solid understanding of accounting and corporate finance.
  • Familiarity with leveraged finance underwriting and credit agreements.
  • Understanding of financial products and market dynamics.
  • Excellent client interaction skills and outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a demanding environment.
