The Department of Revenue’s Human Resources team supports employees throughout their careers while helping create a safe, healthy, and productive workplace. Within Human Resources, the Benefits and Risk Management team oversees programs that support employee well‑being and help reduce workplace risk, including workers’ compensation, return‑to‑work, safety and ergonomics, employee benefits, and related HR programs.

The HR Risk Management Specialist serves as a primary resource for the Department’s risk management programs. This position manages workers’ compensation and return-to-work activities, supports workplace safety and ergonomics initiatives, analyzes risk-related data, and partners with employees, supervisors, HR leadership, and other stakeholders to identify risks and improve processes. The position also provides training and guidance on risk management programs and provides limited support to the Benefits Specialist as needed.
This is a remote position primarily conducted via telework/work‑from‑home arrangements. Occasional travel to a State or alternate location may be required based on business needs. The selected candidate must maintain Colorado residency throughout their employment and comply with all applicable State of Colorado and department remote work policies, procedures, and requirements.

Must meet the following or a combination of education and experience to meet the minimum (MQ) qualifications:
Experience Only:
Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position, which must include one or more of the following areas: workers compensation, risk management, occupational or workplace safety, return to work programs, clams administration, ergonomics or workplace injury prevention.
Or
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years This experience must include one or more of the following areas: workers compensation, risk management, occupational or workplace safety, return to work programs, clams administration, ergonomics or workplace injury prevention.
Six (6) years of relevant experience, as described above, may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.

As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre‑employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
